Sunday I got up and went for a run, then Marianne, Michael and I walked some of the 7 kilometer long path along the water. I jumped in for a quick swim on the way back. Later we all walked to the next town up the coast for lunch. Got home about 6 that evening and discovered the breaker had popped for our electric and most of the food in the fridge was spoiled. Yucch.

Saturday we walked downtown and found a fresh food market. We stocked up on produce and a few kilo's of mussels for dinner. We had lunch at a traditional Istrian restaurant. The food and wine were good so we made our way back to the apt and took a nap.

Last Friday we made a last minute decision to go to Croatia for the weekend with our friends Michael, Laura and Alex. We drove to the seaside town of Opatija . It's about 2.5 hour drive from our place. It would probably be an hour if not for the road you travel through Slovinia and Croatia. As soon as you reach the boarder it goes from 4 lane autostrada to winding country road. Beautiful drive though. We stayed in an apartment with a great view of the sea.

We then continued on to Oderzo and had a coffee before heading home and getting caught in a down pour. The sun came back out later so we had chicken on the grill and a good bottle of vino for dinner on the patio.

Sunday Marianne and I rode to Oderzo, not far from our house. On the way we stopped at an antique market in Porto Buffole'. Marianne bought an old coffee grinder and a wine press that she plans to decorate as a memento of Italy.

Jason, Clint and I rode up to Piancavalo at lunch today. Spring really hasn't showed it's face up there yet. It was still cold and the peaks were in cloud. The snow on the ski slope is almost melted, but the peaks are still covered from a storm 2 days ago. It's 2800 ft starting from an elevation of 60 feet. The other picture is my friend Paul showing off his big hose at work.

Marianne and I volunteered at the base family fair last weekend. We worked in the Aviano Dragi cycling clinic. Good practice for my next career. For you cycling aficionado's out there, look closely at the bike the two little girls are riding. Yes, it's a Pinarello. The factory/shop is not far from here and apparently they make kids bike's also.
